During my research when writing the article, the one thing that shocked me is how subjective the system is. The process for the system is that one of the voting media members representing the city in which the player played the bulk of his career actually makes a sales presentation to the voting committee. Therefore, if the media member from, say, Minnesota, does a shitty job of presenting Cris Carter as a HOF player but a media member from another city is a great salesman/presenter but has a less-worthy player, he will still be able to 'sell' the committee on voting for his less-worthy player. |
