49ers To Ask CB Nate Clements To Take A Pay Cut?

49ers CB Nate Clements is scheduled to earn $6 million in base salary in 2010 but was demoted for the team's Week 8 game, and he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in that same game. The team still considers Clements one of their better players, but his salary for next season is more than twice CB Shawntae Spencer's scheduled salary. The team could ask him to take a pay cut, but the team could hold onto him until final cuts to determine what a fair price for his services would be for the 2010 season.
