| Lions Searching For An "Eraser" To Complement WR Calvin Johnson | | | One of the Lions' biggest off-season needs is an "eraser" -- to borrow a term from offensive coordinator Scott Linehan -- to keep defenses from smothering wide receiver Calvin Johnson. When the Lions signed Bryant Johnson as a free agent in 2009, the question was whether he could produce as a No. 2 receiver for the first time in his career. He struggled to get open and went 10 straight games with two catches or fewer. His 35 catches tied a career low he set as a rookie in 2003 with Arizona. His 417 yards were a career low. But neither was far from his best, either. He has never caught more than 49 passes. He has had more than 546 yards since. In short, he is what he is. Source: Detroit Free Press | | |
