| Cardinals QB Kurt Warner Downplays Retirement Talk | | | Cardinals QB Kurt Warner denied a story in ESPN about his potential retirement after Warner took a lap around the stadium Sunday after the Cardinals defeated the Packers in overtime during the first round of the playoffs. Warner said he was saying thank you, not necessarily goodbye, and denied that he has made any retirement plans. "That was my way of saying thanks to the fans because I know we're not coming back here this year," Warner said since Arizona will play at New Orleans in the second round of the playoffs. "I appreciate them. We haven't played our best football at home this year, but they've been incredible for us." Warner, 38, said what he always says when asked about retirement: He'll take some time after the season to make a decision. "I never want to make an emotional decision," he said, "and I think it's easy to do, whether it's after a game like this, to say, 'I'm going to play forever,' or after a bad game to say, 'Ah, I'm done.' There is no question I continue to think about it and have thought about it over the last few years and will again this year. I don't think you want to stay too long, but you don't want to go out before it's time." Source: CBS Sports | | |
