Bears seven-time Pro Bowl LT Orlando Pace will finish out the season in a backup role barring an injury to LT Chris Williams or RT Kevin Shaffer, the Chicago Tribune reported. Williams took over as the starting left tackle when Pace, 34, missed the last two games with a groin strain. Pace now is healthy, but the Bears want to keep Williams at left tackle and the benching of Pace may move him closer to retirement, though he says he feels healthy enough to keep playing.
A smart move by the coaching staff. I can't believe i'm using the word SMART and Bears coaching staff in the same sentence. Then again, Chris Williams has been labeled as our left tackle of the future. Time to see what we can get out of him.
