49ers WR Isaac Bruce Voluntarily Takes A Step Back

49ers veteran wide receiver Isaac Bruce has voluntarily taken a step back to allow younger players, such as Michael Crabtree, Josh Morgan, Jason Hill and Brandon Jones the opportunity to play. "(Bruce) just made a decision, 'Why don't I just stay here, stay around? I don't have to dress. I'm good with that. I can help these younger guys.' I think that's the role he's playing right now," coach Mike Singletary said, "and I'm very thankful that's the attitude he's taking." Bruce, who has 21 receptions for 264 yards on the season, has not played since Nov. 22 against the Green Bay Packers. And Singletary said there is no plan to get Bruce, 39, on the field for one final game before he retires.
