One of the most puzzling aspects of the way the Packers have handled future free agents is the lack of interest in signing safety Nick Collins, a Pro Bowl selection last year who is having arguably a better season this year. According to Collins' agent, Dave Butz, "There's really nothing to talk about. There's nothing going on. We'll see." There could be several reasons why the Packers may have chosen not to work on an extension with Collins, one is that they're treating him like all the other players who wouldn't be eligible for unrestricted free agency in a non-cap year, figuring there's no reason to rush into a deal, another could be that Collins is asking for so much that the Packers are simply going to wait him out.
