49ers coach Mike Singletary gave Raye a vote of confidence, saying he was "absolutely" comfortable with Raye calling the plays. "Jimmy has adapted, adjusted," Singletary said. "He's gone 180 (degrees), 360 - I mean anything I've asked him to do, he's been more than willing to do. He's done a fine job." When the 49ers hired Raye in January, they also added Mike Johnson, 42, to coach the quarterback, the thinking at the time was that Johnson would one day take over as coordinator, giving the 49ers some of the offensive continuity they've lacked in previous seasons.
