The Dallas Cowboys are optimistic that safety Ken Hamlin might be able to play against the new York Giants Sunday after missing the past two games with a high ankle sprain. Coach Wade Phillips said the Cowboys will know more on Wednesday when Hamlin tries to practice with the team for the first time since the injury. Alan Ball has been solid in Hamlin’s place but the Cowboys recognize his slight frame could be a liability against the Giants power running game and would like the option of having the bigger Hamlin back in the lineup.
