Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers, bothered by an injured right hand in recent weeks, looked to be nearly at full strength in Sunday's loss against the Jets. Peppers, who had a half-sack and now has 7.5 for the season, had been playing primarily on passing downs and said Sunday the hand is “better.” Peppers was part of a defensive effort that held the Jets to a field goal and one offensive touchdown, finishing with four tackles, one tackle for a loss and two quarterback hurries. “It’s hard to lose any game, whether you give up 400 yards on defense or if you get beat the way we did today,” said Peppers. “It’s still tough, it’s still a loss.”
