eh, i'm glad raye is supporting his qb and alex has been doing 'ok' but for raye to say "The quarterback play has been very good and at times it has even titled toward being outstanding.....you don't find many quarterbacks who throw three touchdown passes in the second halves of games, be it from behind or be it in the lead. If you do that, you do it. It has nothing to do with the score or the other team or the opponent " is just dumb.
i don't want to just bag on Alex because i was really rooting for him to ressurect his career but there is no questioning that alex has padded his stats when defenses start playing off after they build a big lead. his passer rating when they are behind by 9 or more points is 113.1. The rest of the time, his rating is 76.1. And in crunch time, in the 4th quarter in a tight game of 7 pts or less margin when they need him to make a play and complete the comeback or hold the lead, his rating plummets to 20.7.
When it is close or when they are leading (when oppossing defenses are playing more aggressively), he's not looking very good and it would be different if alex was actually bringing his team all the way back from these 20 point deficits but he's not. they're coming up short.
right now, i can't agree with raye's comments that alex has been outstanding or even very good. |
