Bill Belichick Defends Controversial Call
Posted By: pctrips 11-16-2009 , 08:03 PM
  #1

Bill Belichick defended his decision to go for it on fourth down as criticism mounted Monday of the call that led to the New England Patriots stunning loss. During his regular Monday news conference, Belichick said, "The same thing I said after the game, I thought it was our best chance to win. I thought we needed to make that one play and then we could basically run out the clock. We weren't able to make it. I think he had the first down when the ball hit his hands," Belichick said, "and then where it was finally marked and all was a little bit short." But, he said, "it doesn't really matter" if he disagreed with the spot. I tell the team, and I think they believe, that I do what I feel like is best for our football team to win every game," he said. "I put the team first and I put those decisions first. I would hope everybody understands that."

Of course he is going to defend the call. The arragant SOB thinks he is always right, even when he is CHEATING..............I am just surprised he didn't call out any players saying they didn't execute it properly.

No, what is brilliant is saying he made the right call when he didn't get it.

Even if he did get it its to big of a risk its just stupid. Just punt it and trust your defense will get a stop. I dident see the play but was it just like a run up the middle or something? They dont really have great backs to do that.

It was a short pass to Faulk. And another nugget. Not only did the not get 4th and 2, but they also didn't get 3rd and 2. If they were so confident they could get 2 yards then they should have done it on 3rd down.

Also, if they made it I would think ballsy call and they're lucky nothing went wrong... but they didn't.
