Lovie Smith Feels Bears Can Still Make The Playoffs

Bears head coach Lovie Smith said he believes the Bears can still make the playoffs despite having a 4-5 record. "Sure, we can make the playoffs. We have five losses right now. Five losses won't keep you out of the playoffs, but for us it's about getting a win. Philadelphia is coming up next. Again, there are some bright things that we can build on. There's a lot of football left to go. Two 9-7 teams, I think, made it in [last year]. But that's a long ways away. As much as anything for us, we just need to be able to finish a game and get a win," Smith said.

i agree with him (if they obviously play better). other than a few teams at the top, the nfc isn't real impressive and 9-7 may make it again. i don't think 8-8 will cut it though as is usually the case in the nfc.

Well, as a life long Bears fan, I have to say that I really don't see playoffs in their immediate future. Their O-line is a mess, their secondary is a joke and the linebacking corp. of Briggs, Hillenmeyer and Roach isn't cutting the mustard. There's no consistency AT ALL on their side of the ball. So, playoffs are just a fantasy this season. I really hope Lovie Smith DOES NOT get fired because with the team they currently have at full strength with the addition of a true #1 receiver I think they would have lost only 2 games by now. Urlacher and Tinoisamoa going down for the season was a huge blow to the defense and Briggs just doesn't really get the job done. I love my Bears but the reality of it is, this year is just a wash. They won't beat Minnesota and with the remaining schedule I only see 3 games they could/should win with the Rams, Packers and Lions. Seven wins in a season isn't good enough.

They can make the playoffs at 8-8. Just everything has to go their way for that to happen.

For the morons pointing the finger at Cutler, they really need to wake up. Their O-line stinks, the receiving core stinks, the running game gets completely ignored by Ron Turner and their ancient D is hurting. Now I know Cutler isn't innocent, but it's just his style of play, he's a gunslinger, and once the Bears FO puts a half decent team around him, he'll be lethal.

Lovie truly is a psychotic lunatic!!

We still have to play the Vikings twice,Eagles and Ravens. The only 2 possible wins I can see at this point are the Lions and Rams...maybe.

if you mean me being jealous... nah

Sure Stafford has thrown more picks then Jay but this is Staffords first year, with the lions he can only improve lol.

Jay isnt horrible but after seeing his last performance, he isnt the QB that they thought would take them to the playoffs.

If the Bears had an o-line that knew how to open up some holes for Forte, I bet a good chunk of money that Cutler's INT total would be down.
