The Kansas City Star speculates that it may eventually be Kolby Smith, and not Jamaal Charles, that takes over for Larry Johnson as the Chiefs' feature back. Charles carried the ball six times for 36 yards last Sunday, while Smith went four times for 17.
I think that's a given, Smith is more of the prototype running back. I think Charles could be successful if given a chance. I don't know if it's his fumbling history or what that is keeping him from getting the shot.
