Giants GM Jerry Reese Says Team Isn't In A Crisis

The Giants have lost three consecutive games, but general manager Jerry Reese isn't overly concerned. "Sure, these last three games are a concern, but I believe it's a little too early to call it a crisis," he told the New York Times. After beginning the season 5-0, the Giants have struggled over the last month. Going back to last season, when they started 11-1, they have gone 6-7 over their last thirteen games. Giants coach Tom Coughlin is blaming fundamentals.

i agree. i don't sense crisis or panic. i just don't think they're as talented as they were a few years ago, especially in the trenches, and teams are figuring out how to play their schemes better.

That plus changing D coordinators and losing a very very good player in Phillips is hard to overcome.

who is phillips? oh, you're talking about kenny phillips.

regardless, i think we all underestimated the amount of talent that they've lost since they won their SB. I think there are 12 or 13 new starters on the 2009 roster versus their SB winning 2007 roster and they just aren't what they were.

You're right about a problem being in the trenches, but the problem isn't talent - the O line is the same as it has been for years and they have Osi back on the Defensive side - the problem is nobody is doing anything great, almost seems like a lack of motivation in the last few games. Having Phillips and Aaron Ross out in the secondary has also taken it's toll - most notably against New Orleans but I really don't think this has had as large of an impact as the lack of production from both lines. I also am forced to mention that Eli has just totally looked like shit in the last couple games - I'm certainly not going to try and pin this whole thing on him but against the Eagles last week he looked like a fucking rookie again, and on top of it some of the receivers, including Steve Smith, dropped some balls and missed some plays that should have been made. I have to agree with Coughlin that the problem is fundementals and THE ENTIRE TEAM appears to be having problems with them. I'm not in panic mode yet but if we don't beat SD this week I will be. Coughlin also recently said that this is a must win and I agree.
