Chiefs [Chiefs] Chiefs QB Matt Cassel Should Have Time To Throw Against Jaguars

This could be the week Matt Cassel keeps his jersey clean. Cassel has been sacked 24 times in six starts, including 19 the last four games, and has been hurried and knocked down even more often. The Jaguars have a league-low five sacks in seven games, struggling to get any consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks. “I don’t really know what the Jags’ stats are, but teams have had some success throwing the ball,” Cassel said. “Any time you’re a quarterback you hope that you can get out there and have the ability to throw the ball. That’s an area where we’ve struggled a bit and hopefully looking to get better in this week.”

Damn I hope this can come true. We need to 1) get some freakin' confidence and 2) to see what Cassell can really do with just a little protection.
The only thing that bugs me is the same thing with the Arizona Cardinals...at what point does Bill Muir (in Arizona, Russ Grimm) take responsibility as offensive line coach for shitty blocking schemes and consistently poor rushing output. I understand God-given physical talent is irreplacable, but this is a thinking man's game also. (that was kind of off-topic, sorry)

I hope he can have time to throw the ball for a change instead of running for his life.

chiefs fans, don't over-focus on the 'sacks' with your new qb. i've been listening to everyone around k.c. bagging on the chiefs o-line all season. they aren't great but they also aren't as bad as some would lead you to believe. cassell is just the type of qb that can make an o-line look a lot worse than they actually are (ala BigBen). He's going to hold onto the ball too long to try and make a play. sometimes it pays off. sometimes it doesn't. hell, cassell took 50 sacks last year behind the same o-line for the Pats that only 'gives up' 20 per year with Brady.

I'm confused on why we've stopped throwing the quick slants to DBowe.

Get him some catches to get his confidence up, and move the damn ball.

Cassel doesn't need to hold onto the ball long, everyone is happy.
