B.J. Raji, the ninth overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft, has begun to make legitimate contributions to the Green Bay defense. “Yeah, and now I’m really starting to understand the defense,” Raji said on Thursday. “I’ve been more spectating and watching and learning than playing. So now, I’m getting my chance, and hopefully, I take advantage of it.” Head coach Mike McCarthy commented on Raji: “He needs as many reps as he can get. I think he’s picked it up, as far as his performance level, coming to camp late, had an injury. I had a chance to watch him in the one-on-ones and watch him more (Thursday) than I normally do. He’s getting better.”
