Vikings [Vikings] Vikings Can Justify New Deal For Coach Brad Childress

Brad Childress, finally with a bona fide quarterback, seems to be a coach on the rise, after losing his first five games to the Packers, he has won the last three. Barring a total collapse, the Vikings are on their way to a division championship and home-field advantage in the playoffs. A division title certainly would warrant a new contract and it's just a guess, but it won't be surprising if Vikings owner Zygi Wilf this week tears up the final year of Childress' deal and hands him three more seasons beginning in 2010 averaging about $3.5 million each.

eh, i'm not sure that the vikings fans would agree that simply a division title would warrant extending his contract ..........

Yea, a division title in a so so North isn't much to hang your hat on. Plus Favre will be gone soon enough & then where will they be?

Probably about 3-5 right now..
Childress is not a head coach, he is pretty good with personnel decisions, but he plays to be beaten not to win. He also cannot make any game time adjustments.

I'd really like them to wait for the off-season before redoing his contract.
