Packers DE Cullen Jenkins Criticizes Dom Capers Playcalling

Defensive end Cullen Jenkins spoke out after the Packers' 38-26 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, saying he felt "handcuffed" in the new defense and that the coaches weren't putting the players in the positions where they can be most successful. Jenkins' complaint comes on the heels of cornerback Charles Woodson questioning why the Packers didn't blitz more in the loss to the Vikings Oct. 5 in the Metrodome. "Basically, we have good players on this defense," Jenkins said after Favre completed a two-game whitewashing of the Packers in which he was not sacked once. "We've got Pro Bowl players on this defense and they were sent to the Pro Bowl doing certain things. And they're not doing those things. "It's tough. We have players who are good at doing stuff and we're not doing it. You want to win, and when you're not winning those things you start questioning, is it that people really want to win or they really want to accomplish another goal, just running what they want to run? I don't know. It's tough, though."

I was pretty surprised that Favre wasn't sacked once in either game. I'm curious to see what the Packer fans think. Do you feel that it's the scheme not matching up well with the personnel, do they need more time to gel in the system, or is it just bad play calling?

i just don't buy the blitz as the reason for losing twice.....

Does Jenkins remember at all where the Pack D was ranked last year? He acts like Capers took a top 10 D & refuses to let them play. They're ranked much higher at this stage than last year, ahead in most categories compared to last year & basically on target to match last year's sacks/INTs.

The comment about blitzing is ridiculous since it's usually a way of trying to hide weaknesses on teams that aren't upper level Ds. Packer defenders need to make key plays, plain & simple, & they're not consistently doing it.

I don't like the offseason moves TT made. We didn't had the right personal for the 4-3 and he didn't brought in the right personal for the 3-4. We're as bad as last year...

Agreed if you meant 3-4 instead of 4-3 but IMO it's still about execution. You guys don't have exactly the right guys but it still takes time to acclimate to a 3-4. Hearing player criticism this early when the Pack is actually rising in the D rankings just rings a little hollow to me at this stage.

Besides, I'd be more vocal about the OL/run game struggles before I'd make a big deal about the D as a whole.

We didn't have the right personal for both schemes. TT's playerchanges where halfassed, for any kind of D. Did I mention that our secondary is shit too?

The O-line is awful. They can't protect Rodgers nor do they help our RBs.

The sad thing is, TT will continue his build-thru-draft philosophy and with his ability to waste high picks on busts or fragile players, Rodgers will be long gone before he had a line, worth this name

I feel your pain...

Over here Jerry Angelo couldn't make a good 1st round draft choice if he had a gun to his head & uses the reverse philosophy with the OL by going free agency. Problem is he chooses players on the decline, Pace/Tait, or 2nd/3rd tier linemen that couldn't make starter anywhere else.

Meanwhile he dumps a bit toward getting Cutler but no experience at WR. Then he lets Mike Brown go & decides rookies are a better bet in the secondary.

We watch him fuck around while our strengths become our next weakness. Maybe these 2 morons are related somehow...

It's a conspiracy by the Vikings

I think Cutler and Rodgers have both great talent, but parts of the O are just to weak. For us the O-line, for the Bears the WRs

Now that's the first thing I've heard lately that explains all this shit.

Add the OL over here too. We can't run block & now we found a way not to pass block. Even at times when teams rush 3...
