| Bears DE Adewale Ogunleye Doesn't Feel Team Needed D-Line Help | | | Defensive end Adewale Ogunleye doesn't believe the Bears need any help at his position, but he believes the trade for defensive end Gaines Adams makes sense from a business (and a politically correct) perspective. "As a player, I didn't think we had any need for this year at defensive end," Ogunleye said. "But if you look at the future, Mark (Anderson) is a free agent (at the end of the season), and I'm a free agent. It's a smart move. They handle the business upstairs first and that's the way it is, it's a business move." Adams will get his first playing time Sunday for the Bears in Cincinnati, but for the immediate future it's doubtful that he will take significant playing time away from Ogunleye or right end Alex Brown. But if Adams, the fourth overall pick in 2007, plays close to expectations, he could be a less expensive alternative to Ogunleye after this season. "It's a part of life," said Ogunleye, who leads the Bears with 41/2 sacks. "You do think about that kind of stuff before the season. But, as soon as the season starts, it's my goal to just focus on my play on the field, and I think if I continue to play well, then I'll control my own destiny. I love Chicago, I would love to be here, but at the same time I've got to continue to play well." Source: Daily Herald | | |
