49ers WR Brandon Jones Upset With Reduced Role

Asked today what his role will be going forward, 49ers wide receiver Brandon Jones said, "To be honest, I don't know myself. That's what I'm trying to figure out. I thought I was a receiver, but I guess I'm a special teams helper. I don't know. I just do what I can and just help out the team the best way I can. But at this time, I'm wondering the same thing you are." Jones was one of the 49ers' few off-season acquisitions and the team is paying him - five years, $16.5 million - like a starter. It's important to note that Jones wasn't getting much playing time before Crabtree was signed. But with Crabtree suddenly in the lineup, Jones gets pushed even farther down the depth chart. "I thought I was going to have a big role back in March when I signed here," Jones said. "I thought I would have a role. And definitely in training camp. You're out there playing and you think you're going to have a role, but things happen, I end up injured ..."

Nobody likes being a bench warmer, and some even complain about being on the field all the time and not getting the ball most of the time.
5 years for 16.5 mil is a lot of $$$ for a bench warmer.

Jones needs to shut the fuck up and just do whatever he's told, if Crabers doesn't hold the promise of greatness Jones could be on the field faster than he thinks. Crabtree is being tested this Sunday and already Jones is crying, it's not like he's Jerry Rice out there.

Jones needs to stop whining, Morgan should be the upset one. If anyone should have been benched for Crabtree it should have been Bruce. Morgan and Crabtree could be a nice tandem and the future of the organization.

Crowned I think the reason Bruce is still starting is because he's the one constant vet appearance they have so I understand why however the WR's should understand that the lineup that they see on Sunday isn't necessarily the starting lineup for the season either.

um, am i the only one that doesn't feel it's very important who is on the field at wr for the 49ers with raye and singletary calling the plays? i thought the crabtree pick was a waste. they won't be throwing to the wr's very often regardless of who they have out there ...................

He should be glad Singletary chose to cut Rossum instead of his ass to make room for that guy who's wearing #15 to begin with.

It doesn't matter what any of us feel, we're not part of the team so we don't matter.
