Redskins Coach Jim Zorn Appreciates Players Support

Jim Zorn isn’t looking for sympathy and he doesn’t need his players to step forward and ask management for back for the embattled coach of the Washington Redskins. It was reported by the Washington Post this morning that at least a few prominent players had approached management about stepping forward and giving a vote of confidence for Zorn if he is not going to be fired during the season. Their thinking, according to the report, was that it could take some of the mounting pressure off a locker room that is facing intense scrutiny with the Redskins 2-3 and having dropped games to previously winless Detroit and Carolina. “I can’t speak for those guys. They are grown men,’’ Zorn said. “I think we are all together. I don’t think that it has to be done for me to feel better about myself and what we are doing. I think Mr. (Daniel) Snyder has tried to help in every way he can to get this team the way it needs to be. Sometimes it is a process. It is awesome to have support. That’s really what has been going on all year. These guys are in. We talked about it this morning and you know what reflects, not just the talk, what reflects on the idea that they are all in and supportive is how they example that talk. They really work at it and they are really working hard. We are 2-3, we know our record, but they are out enjoying themselves and trying to get better and better each and everyday, listening to the coaches and trying to pay attention to all those things we have to do to improve. I am really proud of them.”
