Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin To Stay Ahead Of Kevin Curtis?

Eagles wide receiver Kevin Curtis' recent left knee setback coupled with Jeremy Maclin's difference making relief showing Sunday has revved up speculation over whether the rookie will remain the second starting wideout once the veteran recovers. Per a team source, this process had already been set in motion prior to the Birds' pre-bye week finale Sunday, September 27th against the Kansas City Chiefs. Regardless of whether or not Curtis is ultimately relegated to a reserve role, the Eagles coaching staff is committed to keeping him in the mix. "He's just really working hard to get that knee close to 100% and I think it's getting closer and closer," said Mornhinweg. "We'll see what happens with Kevin. He's such a fine football player; we'll find some places for him."

ok ...............

seriously, if maclin is another desean, i don't think they can keep him off the field. from the game on sunday (although it wasn't a real test for him), he seemed to run pretty good routes and had his head in the game. He will struggle against some better defenses this season but he can keep getting better and may already be better than curtis. i trust Reid to make that decision.

That pretty much tells you he has been demoted.

I think by the end of the season this change will make a boatload more sense. Curtis is at home in the slot and Maclin is too damn talented to not be an everydown WR. Although... I'm not sure if I'd rather have Avant or Curtis in the slot. Hmmmm...
