The Chargers will apparently be without starting center Nick Hardwick until at least December and perhaps the rest of this season. Sources said the team will announce later today that Hardwick is having surgery today on his left ankle and will be out at least eight weeks. It is not known whether the Chargers will place Hardwick on injured reserve and they could decide to save a roster spot in case he can come back to help for a possible postseason run.
