Jay Glazer of Foxsports.com reports via Twitter the Philadelphia Eagles will sign tight end Alex Smith today. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft out of Stanford. On April 30, 2009 Smith was traded to the New England Patriots for fifth round 2010 NFL Draft pick but was released during final cuts over the weekend.
