| Browns Coach Eric Mangini Addresses Jamal Lewis Rumors | | | The rumors that Cleveland Browns running back Jamal Lewis was on the chopping block turned out to be untrue. The former NFL Offensive Player of the Year made the team as the Browns got down to the NFL roster limit of 53 players despite a lackluster preseason. Head coach Eric Mangini, who kept Lewis, Jerome Harrison and rookie James Davis as well as fullback Lawrence Vickers on the roster, addressed the Lewis rumors. "I think one thing that happens during any transitional time in a league is there's always speculation on a lot of different topics," Mangini said in remarks distributed by the team. "I think that Jamal has a lot to contribute and I'm looking forward to seeing him as we go throughout the season. He's a physical guy, a tough guy, a good pro. He's been a good mentor to the younger backs. I think all those things are important." Source: National Football Post | | |
