Chiefs Head Coach Todd Haley told the two top available quarterbacks, Brodie Croyle and Tyler Thigpen that Croyle would start the preseason finale against the Rams. Haley later said how much Croyle would play could depend on how well he plays against the Rams. Haley refused to comment on which QB would start the season opener should starter Matt Cassel be unavailable due to injury.

Let them keep battling for that second spot.

When/if Brodie wins it we can see if he stays healthy long enough for the return of Cassel.

Yes, he's shown no durability whatsoever. He's never made it more than 1 game without getting hurt.

Well, technically, he did during the 07 season, just no one knew about it.

In the final game of the season, Croyle led the Chiefs to a 10–10 tie with the Jets with just three minutes remaining.[29] However, the Chiefs lost 13–10 with a Jets field goal in overtime. Croyle would finish the game 20-of-43 for 195 yards.
