John Madden Surprised To Hear About Favre's Return To NFL

Recently interviewed by Richard Sandomir of the New York Times, former NFL broadcaster, John Madden says he was surprised to learn about Brett Favre's return to the NFL. "I wasn't in the loop this time, so I was surprised. I was a little the last time when he decided not to play for the Vikings. I told him: "This isn't going to go away. If they want you now, they'll stay after you." So saying no in July wasn't the final answer. I think he'll be OK, but I think his ankle will bother him more than his arm." Madden was also surprised that the Philadelphia Eagles were the team to sign quarterback Michael Vick. "I'm surprised he went there. I texted Andy Reid and said, "Boy that came out of nowhere." People were talking about where he'd go, and I never heard anyone mention the Eagles. McNabb is the quarterback, and they like Kevin Kolb, so Vick's just another weapon. But I know you can't be in jail for two years and play NFL football, so the question is when. Maybe in three months" said Madden.

I hear Madden is coming out of retirement for only Brett's games. Although instead of the Madden bus he will be traveling around inside Brett's ego. There's plenty of room.
