The Oakland Raiders released veteran fullback Lorenzo Neal on Wednesday, ending his brief stay with the team. Neal, who signed with the Raiders in May, was expected to push Oren ONeal and Luke Lawton for the starting fullback job but became expendable when ONeal impressed Oaklands coaching staff with his recovery from major knee surgery. Neal, 38, was trying to latch on with his eighth NFL team and seemed to be doing well.
I loved him as a Raven. Dedicated player, tough man. He probably will not be out of work for too long. He should get picked up quickly. His mentorship is worth the small dollar contract. Now, for him it is about getting playing time, not about $$.
