Middle linebacker Jon Beason said he's been impressed with the Panthers' young defensive tackles, but that team officials "definitely need to get a veteran guy in here" to help fill the void left by Maake Kemoeatu's season-ending Achilles injury. "It's definitely something we need to address," said Beason. The Panthers have one veteran defensive tackle, Damione Lewis, and only one other player at the position with any NFL experience at all, Nick Hayden, who appeared in two games as a rookie last season. The Panthers may have to wait a few weeks until other teams make their final cuts before adding a defensive tackle with experience. "If a team is deep at the D-tackle position, they're probably going to wait (to make cuts) until the end of training camp because people get hurt," said Beason. "You don't want to let somebody who can step in and play go early. It'll be interesting to see what happens at the end of training camp, but Maake was a big loss for us."
Yes he was... We will have a lot of trouble clogging up the lanes now... Maake was a really big guy ( I think 350+ lbs )... But I'm sure we'll get something figured out before the regular season... I hope... Haha
