Steelers RG Trai Essex Fitting Nicely On O-Line

Last night, coach Mike Tomlin said that Darnell Stapleton had exploratory surgery and might miss only a couple weeks. If and when he returns, it is unlikely he will get his old job back at right guard. Current starter, Trai Essex will become the eighth designated starting offensive lineman, other than injury fill-ins, since the start of last season, the fifth new one, and the third starting right guard. "I want to keep my position, but nothing's set in stone yet," Essex said. "Trai is a very athletic guy and, when he said he wanted to gain more strength and power, that's a really important thing inside in this league, being a strong guy," offensive line coach Larry Zierlein noted.

i like essex alot, ive been hoping he would get a shot at guard for a while but with a fresh deal and stapelton out this is the perfect time for him to take advantage of it. i would like stapelton to start at center when he gets better and if that happens i like the way our line is shaping up
