Bengals RB Brian Leonard To Backup Cedric Benson?

Brian Leonard appears to be the favorite for the backup running back role in Cincinnati this season. Still, Leonard's role as the No. 2 man behind Cedric Benson is far from cemented with Kenny Watson, DeDe Dorsey and Bernard Scott fighting for the role as well. Leonard was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals on May 7, 2009 for defensive tackle Orien Harris.

I like Brian Leonard alot, but still am not real sure if I think he should be a halfback, or a fullback. Cincinnati is probably a good home for him though, they will be looking for creative ways to generate offense enen if Ocho and Carson return to form.

have you ever seen him run? hes an OK blocker but hes a runner through and through and a great receiver out of the backfield, not good, great.....the man moves the chains on 3rd down

people want him to be a fullback cause hes white. its funny that you like him though because i thought for damn sure he'd be a patriot on draft day a few years ago

I thought so to, he's a BB type of guy, and you're probably right about the white thing, I remember they did a special on him leading up to the draft where they said he wanted to be a running back, and the big deal then was that he'd be the only white RB in the league.

That wouldn't be a horrible rushing attack if Benson can run as hard as he did last year, Both Benson and Leonard are bowling balls, they need a lightning fast runningback to also spell in and mix it up.

Cincinnati's offense should be very respectable this year.

The problem is that Brian Leonard is a tweener. Not good enough of a blocker, too slow to be a true runner, not enough power to be a bowling ball. He has good hands but that's pretty much it.

I'm sure that if the Bengals can get Benson going, they should at least find something for Leonard.
