Giants [Giants] Giants QB Eli Manning Ready To Take Leadership Role

The New York Giants may have lost a pair of veteran wide receivers, but the team believes quarterback Eli Manning will be able to make up the different with experience, the New York Post reported. "We're going to put more of the onus on him," Giants GM Jerry Reese said. And how did Manning respond? "I think you got a quarterback going into his sixth year and . . . some young receivers," Manning told The Post Tuesday. "It's my job to make sure those guys are on the same page and my job to be a leader and take control of the offense and the passing game. "As a quarterback you're always going to be a leader, but now I'm one of the older guys on the offense."

The team has finally been purged of all the bitches... Tiki gone, shockey gone, plax gone. It's all yours now Eli.

Ready to take the leadership role??
Just an opinion subject to ridicule, but after the SuperBowl win I kinda thought he stamped his name on leader of the team. He earned it then. Looks like news-starved reporters don't want us to forget he had a few crappy seasons to begin his career. Silly me.

Well said 127markaz. I thought the same thing, but didn't want to take the defensive angle. Also, with Plax still being there the offense couldn't be completely his. Now it's all team first guys as show with everyone showing up to mandatory camp.

I have never seen Eli as the leader of his team. He is a very good QB, but a leader isn't synonymous with being a QB.
