Giants DE Osi Umenyiora, who missed the entire 2008 season after a Pro Bowl appearance in 2007, has come back from his knee surgery with a vengeance and was flashing those "you can't block me" moves and quickness for most of the OTA period as well as the mandatory minicamp.

The Giants have a very good line rotation.

He said he was recovered from his surgery enough to play in the playoffs last season (if he hadn't been on IR).

Now, that's likely only partly true (ie healthy enough to play, nowhere near game ready) but he's basically had 6 months since then (and will be almost 11 months from his injury by the time training camp comes around).

So, it's entirely possible (depending on the severity of the cartilage damage in his left knee injury) that he will be back to his usual serious speed (or better) come the start of the new season (just as it's possible he won't be up to speed, although it sounds like that is becoming unlikely). Just have to see come training camp.....
