Eagles CB's Sheldon Brown, Ellis Hobbs Will Compete
Filed Under: , , ,
Posted By: SteveRobWhatever 06-28-2009 , 12:40 AM

Cornerback Sheldon Brown asked to be traded in the offseason after the Eagles refused to redo the four years left on his contract. He was a no-show at all of the team's voluntary OTAs, but is not expected to be a training camp holdout. Whether he can fend off newcomer Ellis Hobbs and hang on to his starting job remains to be seen.

Baskett Lito didn't play enough to get beat "a good amount of times."
If he got beat once that was a good amount of the times he played because he barely played.

Yeah Joe.... your not fan of Hobbs....we know. I hate the fucking Patriots too much to have seen enough of him to judge..... but call me crazy if I respect the Eagles talent evaluation a little more then that of a Cowturd fan's. Plus Sheldon is not a pro bowl level corner

That is true, The times he got beat were most likely because he wasent comfortable not being in every down. I knew litos time was over when we started hanson over lito in the card game.As for hobbs he could be an average CB i guess he did start for the 16-0 team but he hasent done anything meaningfull in his career to start over a proven vetran like sheldon. Litos situation was diffrent cause he got his starting spot taken away by a way more talented player sheldon doesent have to worry about that.

Chad Pennington and the Dolphin's WR core made Hobbs look like a peewee player. He is a great special teams player, but not much more on the defensive side, at least not yet anyway.

Hobbs was also one of the worst starting CB's in a Patriots system that protects its CB's. He was also traded for two 5th round picks by a shrew Patriots organization.

He is a good football player because he is a good subpackage CB that has starting expirienceand an electrifiying return man.

Also it doesnt mention anywhere in the article that the Eagles Talent Evaluation braintrust is gonna have them fight for the starting job

I think we just traded 2 5th rounders for him when we had 4 of them that we couldent use. We have a decent group of corners joselio hanson played really well in the cards game when asante samuel got hurt.

I am sorry, but you guys are wrong. Sheldon Brown is a Pro Bowl level talent. His only problem is he has stone so he doesn't make the "flashy" pick, so he just shuts them down.

Yea that is whats holding him back most CBs make the probowl by getting alot of picks or because of there past reputation. If he had better hands i think he might make it. I wouldent say he shuts them down though hes been beat pretty bad before. Im glad plax is gone cause he owned sheldon and last year i remmember hixon burning him really bad but he droped the ball. Overall he makes some big plays when it matters.

Sheldon is a Pro Bowl caliber corner. I read somewhere that he was statistically the 5th best corner in the NFL last season. And Lito sucked when he was on the field. Hanson totally outplayed him.
