Brandon Marshall's Trade Value Doesn't Match His Talent

Michael Lombardi of the National Football Post reports that Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall is highly thought of as a player around the NFL, but when youve had as many off-the-field problems as he has and always seem to be in front of the commissioner for personal conduct, his trade value does not match his talent. With Marshall, its always buyer beware. The Broncos are much better off keeping him than trading him for a reduced value.

Per Brian Broddus who scouted him for Parcells

The more I read about this guy (and the pundits opinions of him) the less stoked I am on Baltimore (my team) making a move on him - I went from full out sold on him to currently being a wary 'meh' on the prospect.
Although you can see from his police reports that all his problems involve women (less the DUI) so maybe if a team could cure him of his affliction for hoochies he would be manageable.

He's a fucking idiot, but he's only 25 and he is 6'4" @ 230lbs. if you could just get him to settle down off the field he is absolute stud.

Based upon what I've read thats perceived as a fairly sizeable 'if' - but you are on point.

Seriously, he's worth trading for even if he's only on your team for 2 or 3 seasons. The risk factor applies to everything you do in football, trading, drafting, signing new contracts, nothing is a gurantee. You can't guarantee that a player that you just resigned to a 5 year 80 million contract that he's going to continue to produce and put up awesome numbers.

In this case, I'd definitely say he's worth the risk. This guy went absolutely nuts in a couple games last season. He's above average after the catch, has acceptable speed, good hands, if you have a hole at the WR position and it needs to be filled, then this guy is perfect to fill it.

I disagree whole heartily. He has already been suspended once. Any minor infraction and we will be seeing Goodell lay the hammer down on this guy with at least a 4 games suspension. I am not willing to trade away my future for a guy that has a very good chance of missing 25% of the season. He is not a 1 time offender.

Brandon Marshall - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This alone mentions of 8 arrests, 7 of which are in past 2 years alone with the last arrest being in March of this year.

If you think his talent outweighs the chances of him being suspended, outweighs the type of attitude a woman beater has, outweighs the circus that comes with guys like this, then go ahead and sign him, but just keep him far far away from the Rams

this has always been the problem with marshall. no one has ever doubted his talent. he's a ticking time bomb off the field though and no team wants to give up the farm for someone like that.

Not to mention that the team that trades for him is going to have to give him $10M guaranteed signing bonus and a mega contract.

He's not fully recovered from the hip injury.

His production is most likely going to go down this season in Denver behind McDaniels' Offense and the arm of Kyle Orton is not the same as Jay Cutler...he'll be hard pressed to catch 100 balls this year.
