Tulane LB Trent Mackey Suspended Indefinitely After Armed Robbery Arrest Tulane senior linebacker Trent Mackey, who was named Conference USA's preseason Defensive Player of the Year, has been suspended indefinitely from the program following his arrest Friday for armed robbery for an incident he originally was deemed a victim in, according to a police report. Tulane released this statement Friday night regarding Mackey: "Trent Mackey, a senior from Port Sulphur, Louisiana, has been indefinitely suspended from the Tulane University football team. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) prohibits the university from providing any additional information regarding disciplinary actions, if any, toward a student." Mackey's family did not respond immediately to a request for an interview. In the previous NOPD report, Mackey was listed as victim of a robbery with his cell phone and backpack having been stolen from the residence of a female friend July 12 on Broadway in Uptown. Upon further investigation, Mackey was thought to have orchestrated the incident, according to the arrest report. Source NOLA.com |
