Auburn QB Zeke Pike Decides To Transfer Freshman quarterback Zeke Pike will not be with the Auburn football team when fall practice starts today and his future with the Tigers is unclear. Pike was sent home by coach Gene Chizik in the summer after being arrested for public intoxication. Pike, a true freshman, enrolled in Auburn last January and participated in spring practice. His departure leaves Auburn with three quarterbacks on scholarship: sophomore quarterback Kiehl Frazier, junior quarterback Clint Moseley and incoming freshman Jonathan Wallace, a player Auburn recruited late and was something of a Signing Day surprise. Frazier and Moseley are competing for the starting job, but Wallace's stock has risen because Pike missed summer workouts and is not in Auburn now. Senior linebacker Daren Bates said Tuesday that Wallace was one of the freshmen who impressed him in summer workouts. Source al.com |
