Troy Replacing Artificial Turf In Veterans Memorial Stadium Troy University’s athletics program is in the midst of getting the football turf resurfaced for Veterans Memorial Stadium. Earlier this week, the old AstroPlay surface, which had been installed since 2003, was stripped. The new turf will be ProGrass Blend, which according to the ProGrassTurf.com website, “consists of 100 percent polyethylene fibers, that are 50 percent monofilament and 50 parallel slit, that are tufted into a woven multi-layer backing. ProGrass Blend is an excellent choice for any field. It combines the features of monofilament with the parallel slit fibers.” Troy is familiar with ProGrass, as the company installed its Baseball Blend on Riddle-Pace Field before the 2008 season. Troy is the third Sun Belt football team to get a new state of the art playing surface, joining UL-Lafayette’s Cajun Field and South Alabama’s Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Source THe Dothan Eagle |
