UGA LB Brandon Burrows To Transfer, Granted Unconditional Release From Georgia
by Chipper10 07-06-2012, 02:00 PM

Sophomore linebacker Brandon Burrows will transfer and has been granted an unconditional release by Georgia according to a release by the school. Burrows cited a chance for more playing time and a desire to return to playing defensive end in a 4-3 scheme as reasoning for the move. "The coaching change here led to a 3-4 defense," Burrows said in a news release. "I have worked with that transition but decided that I want to get back to playing defensive end. I think another program may give me the best opportunity to succeed at that." Burrows redshirted his freshman season and sat out all of 2011 with a shoulder injury. He was currently listed as third team inside linebacker on Georgia's preseason depth chart. Roster attrition for the Bulldogs has been a hot topic of late with the Georgia well below the 85 scholarship limit.

Another case of coaches promising PT and not delivering or is the kid just underachieving?

I think it's more so the PT issue. He's listed as 3rd. Obviously, these kids want to play. Some are okay with being back ups..because they get a free ride to an education. But there are those that want to play, and feel that transferring is their best option.

Burrows was hurt and then never worked his way up the depth chart. Like Chipper said he was our 3rd string ILB.
