QB Tate Forcier Leaves San Jose St. Due To Low Grades

Quarterback Tate Forcier has left San Jose State and is not a part of its football program due in part to his poor academic standing at the school, a source told the San Jose Mercury News on Monday.Forcier enrolled at San Jose State last summer after a lengthy transfer saga that originally had the former Michigan quarterback heading to Miami.Before becoming a Spartan, Forcier told ESPN's Joe Schad that San Jose State "felt right.""I loved the coaches and felt comfortable with them. I really believe I can help that team and I'm going to do everything I possibly can to help them," Forcier told Schad in July.Forcier sat out the entire 2011 season under the NCAA's transfer rules. According to the Mercury News, he was projected to start at quarterback in 2012.Forcier started for the Wolverines in 2009 before slipping on the depth chart and in the classroom. He backed up Denard Robinson in eight games in 2010 before announcing in January 2011 that he was leaving Michigan.
