Dismissed SCAR QB Stephen Garcia's Father Said Dismissal Was All His Son's Fault

Former Jefferson High School quarterback Stephen Garcia was dismissed from the University of South Carolina football program on Tuesday for violating the guidelines of a substance abuse policy he signed before the season began. Garcia's father, Gary, said his son "decided to have a couple of beers. And then they decided to random alcohol test him and that's what he failed.' Garcia's father was helping his son pack on Tuesday afternoon in Columbia, S.C., and the family was scheduled to return to Tampa. He said his son's dismissal was "almost a relief, considering all he has been through.'' "It happened so quickly,'' Garcia's father said. "We didn't see this coming. Obviously, Stephen is responsible for his actions, which we've told him from the beginning. He should've known better. He should've made better decisions. I don't know how many college kids can handle zero tolerance, but those were the choices he had.

I can't tell you how refreshing it is for a parent to actually put the blame where it belongs. Too many say it wasn't his fault, he should have been given another chance, coach had it out for him.......
