| Darren Woodson Says Cowboys ‘Are Garbage At Tackling’; ‘They Won’t Hit A Soul’ Former Cowboys safety Darren Woodson was known for his tackling and specifically hard-hitting throughout the 1990s. After describing the Green Bay Packers as a “terrible” tackling team in a story for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, one of the best safeties in Cowboys history let loose on his former team by saying the Cowboys “are garbage at tackling” and added “they won’t hit a soul.” Woodson says players today aren’t worried about giving up an extra six or seven yards because, “They are all trying to make that big play.” With the Cowboys, Woodson said he and his defensive back teammates took pride in making tackles. “The guy made the catch but the yards [after catch] weren’t there,” Woodson said. “Myself, Deion (Sanders), Brock Marion, even Larry Brown. … There was a sense of embarrassment. Now, there’s no embarrassment. Nobody’s embarrassed if they miss a tackle.” Source: Dallas Morning News |
