Bears OT Gabe Carimi Ready To Test Repaired Right Knee

Many of his teammates took time to get away on vacations since the Chicago Bears last gathered as a team in mid-June. Gabe Carimi took it as an opportunity to continue to work on his right knee, which was surgically repaired in December. “I have been training all five weeks that I have had (since the offseason program ended),” Carimi said Tuesday afternoon. “Just to make sure I am ready and give it everything I’ve got.” Much of the focus in training camp will be on the offensive line. The real evaluation doesn’t begin until Saturday evening when the team practices in pads for the first time, a limitation set in the new collective bargaining agreement. Carimi, more than 10 months removed from his last live action, is ready. “That is where you are really going to be tested. That’s what it is all about,” he said. “I did everything in OTA’s and minicamp but you really find out what you can do when you actually put the pads back on. I’ll test it out. Like anything, you have to go through the motions and see how it feels.”
