Ex-Bears SS Shaun Gayle Sues NFL, Says He Suffers From Head Injuries

Ex-Chicago Bears star Shaun Gayle is suing the NFL, lining up with other pro-football players who have accused the league of failing to properly diagnose head injuries they suffered on the gridiron, Lisa Donovan of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. In his lawsuit, Gayle said that after 12 seasons of play — mostly with the Bears — the one-time defensive back now suffers from symptoms related to the neuro-degenerative disease known as Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE). “Following his retirement from the NFL, Shaun Gayle suffers from headaches, occasional short-term memory loss and other cognitive deficits associated with CTE,” the lawsuit filed in Cook County Circuit Court states. Gayle blasts the NFL for failing to prevent, diagnose and properly treat concussive brain trauma throughout his career, which ended in 1995, according to the lawsuit. “Following documented concussions, the NFL [never] warned Shaun Gayle that playing through concussions could, and would, cause permanent brain damage,” the suit states.

Sad to see so many favorites coming out of the wood work on an issue treated as tho it's some sort of new phenomenon in the medical world.

Just like boxing promoters/managers used fighters like disposable rags, so has the NFL. It's just the nature of making money of other's blood, seat, & tears. America, the land of 'opportunity'.

Now if the players want to test the waters to see if there's some sort of retroactive cut of the proceeds in the courts, hate it but go for it..

Just cut this mamby pamby whining as tho they were clueless sheep led to slaughter. They were paid to play a child's game for a living, they weren't children playing it.

What sucks is I just hope when this is all said and done that football isn't changed to some bastardized sport we can't even recognize.
