Lovie Smith Expects Bears RB Matt Forte Back For Training Camp

Bears coach Lovie Smith refused to speculate either way on running back Matt Forte earlier this week and made it clear that the Bears are moving on with the players they have, John Mullin of CSNChicago reports. On Thursday Smith changed direction and, without being asked about Forte, twice volunteered that he was looking forward to having Forte. “Can’t wait to get down to training camp, to get a few more of our guys back out there in the mix,” Smith said, mentioning, “Brian Urlacher, get Matt Forte back out there, those guys.” Later Smith included Forte in his thoughts on the Bears’ running game for 2012: “We’re adding Michael Bush to the mix with Matt [Forte], Kahlil [Bell], Armando [Allen], other good football players.”

Both sides are dug in deep. Lovie Smith must be hoping for a miracle at this point.

With what Forte made during his rookie contract which I believe is around $3.5 million in four years, he wouldn't be stupid enough to miss paychecks this year, atleast I don't think he would. I still believe he'll sign his franchise tag at the last possible second.
