Kansas Hires Gator OC Charlie Weis To Lead Team
Posted By: themush 12-08-2011 , 05:40 PM

Former Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis has been hired at Kansas. Weis will be introduced during a news conference Friday on campus, where he'll try to rebuild a program that won the Orange Bowl just a few years ago but floundered under Turner Gill. Weis is wrapping up his first season as offensive coordinator at Florida after spending one season directing the Kansas City Chiefs' offense. But his most extensive college experience came with the Fighting Irish, where he went 35-27 in five seasons.

Weis apparently sprung this news on Coach Muschamp when he was on his way to the Gator Bowl Coaches Presser.

Stay classy....

Hopefully for Kansas' sake Manginno left some of those circus tents he calls shirts there for Weis to wear. That might set the athletic dept. back a couple of million to dress another fat bastard.

one of my KU buddies just called me right when this article was posted. He thinks it's about the best hire they could have come up with.

As a ND fan, I think it could go either way.

Weis has the ability to be a very effective head coach, however he doesnt have the understanding of the college game yet to be a HC/OC like he tried to do at ND. It was easy to do his first couple years at ND because the Pro Spread was a unique system in the college game. Once teams had sufficiant tape and his talent level dropped, he was in trouble

He can call plays. Manage games. Manage teams. But he cant do it all on this level right now. And he is arrogent, so he may never find the humility to be able to know what he should and shouldnt do

How can we judge someone who jumps ship each year? He's a quitter.

“I’m going to coach for a long time,” Weis said on Nov. 22, when he was asked whether he would be back at Florida next season. “I’m not… my wife says I can’t quit. That’s not even… remember I have a kid who is a freshman in college here. Remember the reasons why I came here. So, I’ll be here for a while, unless you’re trying to get rid of me. No, he didn’t get free tuition if you were wondering.”
