| HBO Interested In The Falcons For "Hard Knocks" The Atlanta Falcons have emerged as a "strong contender" to appear on HBO's "Hard Knocks" during the 2012 training camp, Rich Cimini of ESPN New York reports. Under head coach Mike Smith and general manager Thomas Dimitroff, the Falcons have gone 43-21 over the last four seasons, winning one NFC South title and making three straight playoff appearances, including back-to-back playoff appearances for the first time in franchise history. Atlanta was on HBO's short list of teams last summer, and was approached three years ago, but declined to appear. Dimitroff is anything but a typical front office executive and is open to the process. "I truly believe that an organization has to be in the right spot to jump into something like Hard Knocks," Dimitroff told Sirius/XM NFL Radio last May. "I think it sheds a lot of light on our league. This is a league of entertainment. There are some traditionalists that struggle with it, but they have to work against the grain a little bit and see that this is about entertainment. Hard Knocks is a good show for the fan base."
