Cardinals LB Clark Haggans To Serve Nine Days In Jail For DUI

Cardinals linebacker Clark Haggans turned himself in Wednesday to serve a nine-day sentence stemming from a 2011 DUI offense in Arizona, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Haggans will serve 48 hours in the Westmoreland County Prison in Pennsylvania, then be on work release for the remaining seven days. In a statement released on Twitter, Haggans said he was rushing home from a concert, after his babysitter called to say his 5-year-old daughter was having trouble breathing. Haggans ran a red light and was pulled over but escorted home by the police officer to tend to his daughter. The officer then cited Haggans with two moving violations, including suspicion of driving under the influence. "In hindsight, I should have found another way home," Haggans said, "and I take full responsibility for for my actions."

thats fucked up by the cops in an emergency situation, not only to fine him but to make him serve time for it. i could be wrong but if i remember correctly when he was in pitt he and his wife were having trouble having kids and then their kid had some medical problems, not surprising he didnt care about traffic laws

To write a guy up that YOU helped in an apparent crisis situation is beyond belief. And that Haggans is putting it on himself is plain silly. My neighbor across the street (a cop) said that he was embarrassed over this and said the majority of cops wouldn't even think of giving a citation under these circumstances. Thank God he'll be serving the time in PA. If he had to do it in AZ he'd be going to Tent City. Fuck that cop.
