Greg Cassel, the father of Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel, has passed away, a league source confirmed to the Globe. Cassel is not expected to practice with the team today, as he has plans to return home. It is uncertain whether this will further impact Cassel's preparation or availability for Sunday's game.
